Home Renovations for Emily who will always have somewhere to call home

Posted May 18, 2020
As a former foster youth, housing insecurity has always been a large struggle for Emily. When things go wrong, especially in times like these, she doesn’t have her parents to fall back on like most people. For these reasons, she recently purchased a tiny one room cabin in Michigan and would love to renovate it to add a room and bathroom. That way, even in the worst of situations, Emily will always have a place to live.

Emily is 26 years old and lives in MD

Emily recently graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with two Bachelor’s Degrees in Spanish and Psychology and was accepted to Drexel University Kline School of Law in Philadelphia! She currently volunteers as an intern at KIND, a legal organization that represents unaccompanied child immigrants through immigration court. Emily’s passion has always been to help people. After having an extremely negative experience in the foster care system, she worked her hardest to get into law school and plans on becoming a pro bono children’s attorney, so no child would feel unheard the same way she did growing up. She loves volunteering, giving back, and spending time with her friends and her cat, Sky. Seeing other people smile makes her smile.
